
Jan Brodie joined The Community Builders, Inc. (TCB) in 2008 and is responsible for overseeing new development activity in the Northeast Region, including all of New England and New York. Ms. Brodie focuses on cities and towns that fit TCB’s mission and profile within this footprint and works to fill the pipeline with new construction, preservation, mixed income, and mixed finance projects in each of the states represented. With over 25 years of development experience, Ms. Brodie brings a diverse set of development skills and knowledge, including experience as an architect, in corporate real estate finance, and as the Vice President of two prestigious development firms.
As Vice President of real estate development for Graham Gund Architects, Inc., Ms. Brodie established project feasibility and set financial objectives for project managers on new purchases, sales, and historic restorations for commercial and residential developments along the Northeast Corridor. She executed refinancings and restructuring of existing portfolio, and managed new and historic projects from concept to completion. In 1996, she became a consultant for FXM Associates, located in southeastern Massachusetts. She developed downtown and waterfront redevelopment strategies along the East Coast, which helped revitalize downtown and waterfront districts of New Bedford, Gloucester, and Portland, ME, to name a few. As Vice President of the Armory Revival Company, Providence, RI, Ms. Brodie provided a full range of development services including project feasibility, team assembly, entitlements and financing, involving Historic, New Markets and LIHTC tax credits, debt and equity, and overseeing construction on LEED certified projects through to occupancy. Projects included mixed-income, mixed-use, and involved both historic preservation as well as new construction.
Ms. Brodie received her MBA from The Wharton School, her Masters in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania GSFA, and Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College.
