Shanda Brown, LMSW serves as director of Community Life (CL) Mid-Atlantic region for The Community Builders, Inc. (TCB) in Baltimore, a position she has held since 2022. Shanda leads the implementation of CL operational excellence and expansion efforts in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and Washington, D.C., working collaboratively with TCB’s real estate development, property management and fund development teams.

With more than 20 years of experience providing services to vulnerable residents, Shanda previously served as TCB’s lead clinical coordinator at City View at McCulloh in Baltimore. In this role, she led the development and implementation of trauma sensitive services and programs for seniors and residents with disabilities. She also developed strategic partnerships with local service providers, launched several pilot programs, provided direct supervision to graduate level social work students, worked closely with the fund development team on grant initiatives and played a key role in several RAD projects. Prior to TCB, Shanda served as director of external programs at AIDS Interfaith Residential Services and as administrator of housing with the Baltimore City Department of Social Services.

Shanda holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and a bachelor’s degree in family studies from the University of Maryland, College Park. In addition, Shanda serves as a field instructor at the University of Maryland’s School of Social Work, which named her field instructor of the year in 2022.
