The Town of Provincetown and The Community Builders Celebrate the Ribbon Cutting of Affordable Workforce Housing at Province Post

June 16, 2026

Provincetown, Mass.  – Today The Community Builders (TCB) and the Town of Provincetown along with state and local officials and partners celebrated the groundbreaking for Province Post, a 65-unit mixed-income, workforce housing community for families. State and local partners supporting the project, including Provincetown Town Manager Alex Morse, Provincetown Select Board Chair David Abramson, State Senator Julian Cyr (D-Truro), State Representative Hadley Luddy (D-4th Barnstable) Director of Multifamily Originations William Dunn  with MassHousing, and John Dundas of VFW Post 3152 were also in attendance to celebrate and provide remarks.

“The Province Post represents a huge win for year-round working people on the Outer Cape, and is an example of what’s possible when we work together to stem the dire housing crisis affecting our region,” said Senator Julian Cyr (MA- Cape and Islands). “Every unit at Provice Post is a chance for Cape Codders to stay and build a life in the communities they love and serve. We have a lot more work to do, but Province Post will make a real dent in Provincetown’s year-round housing shortage. I am so proud of the significant support the Commonwealth provided to make this project possible.”

Serving the year-round workforce of this popular resort town, Province Post will feature 65 apartments for both market rate and households earning from 80% to below 30% of area median income. Resident amenities will include shared patios, a laundry room, seating areas, outdoor and covered bike racks, and direct access to the bike path towards Captain Bertie’s Way. The development includes 45 parking spaces and will be located within close proximity to a supermarket, dining, healthcare, retail, and is just a short walk to Provincetown’s bustling Commercial Street.

“Province Post is the result of years of partnership, planning, and commitment to creating housing opportunities for the people who make Provincetown work year-round,” said Provincetown Town Manager Alex Morse. “Thanks to the support of The Community Builders, the Provincetown Select Board, our residents, and Town Meeting voters, these 65 year-round homes will help local workers and families remain part of our community and ensure Provincetown remains a vibrant place to live, work, and visit for generations to come.”

In 2011, TCB was chosen as the developer for the Province Landing development, located a quarter mile from Province Post. Today, Province Landing is fully occupied and provides 50 homes for families. In 2021, after a competitive RFP process, TCB was once again selected by the Town to develop the site at 3 Jerome Smith Road.

“The ribbon cutting for Province Post marks a significant milestone in TCB’s ongoing efforts to address the pressing need for affordable housing, particularly for working families in Provincetown,” said Rachana Crowley, TCB  Vice President of Real Estate Development. “Today, we strengthen our commitment to Provincetown by delivering 65 new affordable homes where residents can live and thrive in their community.”

“These 63 new housing units will transform the lives of many local residents and new neighbors”, said State Rep. Hadley Luddy (MA-).  “Province Post is a key step forward in Provincetown to support our local economy, our year-round workforce and community vibrancy. Congratulations, Provincetown!”

“Housing is essential to the future of Provincetown, and Province Post reflects our community’s commitment to ensuring that people who live and work here have the opportunity to build their lives here,” said Provincetown Select Board Chair David Abramson. “We are proud to celebrate this milestone and the many partners who helped make it a reality”.

The ribbon cutting ceremony also included the unveiling of the veteran’s memorial, honoring the site’s legacy as the former Lewis A. Young Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3152.

“MassHousing is excited for the new residents of Province Post who have brand new, energy efficient apartment homes that will allow them to live in the heart of Provincetown with all the amenities and economic opportunities the town has to offer,” said MassHousing CEO Chrystal Kornegay. “The former VFW Post there served our veterans for many years and now that property has been transformed into state-of-the art housing that will continue to benefit the town and its residents for many more years to come.”

The completion and grand opening of Province Post was made possible by a collaborative effort from many parties over the duration of the project since it’s inception. This included funding from the Town of Provincetown, MassHousing, EOHLC, CEDAC, Barnstable County, Cape Light Compact, and more. Delphi Construction led the construction with design delivered by DBVW Architects. This development will showcase a strong commitment to sustainability by being all-electric, the installation of roof-mounted photovoltaic systems, and pursuance of Enterprise Green Communities certifications.
