In February 2020, TCB announced the grand opening of A.O. Flats at Forest Hills, a transit-oriented, workforce housing development in Jamaica Plain. The energy-efficient building consists of 78 units affordable to low-income and moderate-income residents.

A.O. Flats has a Platinum level of LEED certifiability and includes 1,500 square feet of commercial space on the first floor.

Housing opportunities like this one create a stronger community and are a model for creating affordable green development all across the City of Boston, I want to thank The Community Builders, our partners, and the Forest Hills community for continuing to work with us to create this needed new affordable housing and retail space here in Jamaica Plain.”

Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition, Charles L. Edson Award in HUD Preservation

2021

In the early 2010s, Lyman Terrace had become functionally obsolete and needed a revitalization to effectively support its residents and the economic redevelopment of downtown. Between 2016-2021, TCB led two phases of redevelopment of Lyman Terrace. Serving as home to 164 families, the renovation of Lyman Terrace was completed in partnership with Holyoke Housing Authority.

Recognized in excellence in the U.S. Department of Urban Housing and Development Preservation category, Lyman Terrace was the recipient of two national awards: a 2021 Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award and a 2021 Affordable Housing Finance Readers’ Choice Award.
