(June 27, 2023) – On Tuesday, June 27, State Rep. Samantha Montaño joined The Community Builders (TCB), Pine Street Inn (PSI), RODE Architects and Cranshaw Construction for a topping off ceremony for 3368 Washington Street, which will be Boston’s largest permanent supportive housing development once complete. Local carpenter workers signed a 24-foot-long prefabricated roof truss, adorned with the traditional evergreen tree, before elevating the truss by crane to the top of the five-story building.
The mixed-use development will include 202 new apartments; 140 will offer support services for individuals moving out of homelessness and 62 will be income-restricted for families. The design, by Boston-based RODE Architects, includes offices along with more than 13,000 square feet of community space. The new development replaces a PSI warehouse/office building.
“Supportive housing is critical to so many people in Jamaica Plain and throughout our state. It’s a powerful combination – a permanent home when paired with strong support services provides a critical platform for personal growth, stability and increased independence,” said Andy Waxman, TCB New England vice president of development.
